Finally Friday

It has been some time since I’ve posted a Finally Friday.  And in fact, I was debating whether I should even bother to post today – considering the short work week.  But as you can see, I rationalized that being the first week of 2013, a Finally Friday was in order.

So let’s freshen up on Finally Friday.  Finally Friday is all about breathing a sigh of relief that the week is over with a photo and its “short” quote.  Yes – similar to Wordless Wednesday, but created for those who have no capacity to be wordless such as myself.  That being said……

For the first week of 2013, its ups and downs have made for an interesting week.  But then again, such is life.

This week’s photo is of both Hubby and I ….Feet and legs crossed, relaxed viewers of movies that cost $0 to rent (Apple TV at its best).  So what did we watch?

Matrix – Aside from Point Break, this is Keanu Reeves best movie – although, I still have no clue what is going on despite how many times I’ve seen this.  Couldn’t Neil have become Anderson in movie #1 and avoided my confusion for movies #2 and #3?

21 Jump Street – Not a bad remake!  I was pleasantly surprised by the odd casting. Loved the cameos from Depp, Robinson and DeLuise.

Prometheus – Wait? Is the prequel to Matrix or Event Horizon?  Alien – really? Yeah, don’t remember those films other than watching them with my eyes covered – very much like I watched this film.

Quite honestly, I would have watched anything this week.  Just sitting and laughing with the Hubby while the children were snug in their beds made the nights enjoyable and special.   Not sure we can swing three movies every week once all the after school activities and meetings get back into high gear, but we’ll certainly try!

It Must Be 5pm Somewhere – Finally Friday

Today I sit at my desk a bit frazzled, stressed and for lack of a better word – bitchy.  Battling a brutal head cold for the past few days and returning to “real-life”, this week did not turn out quite as I expected.  Wasn’t I just sitting beach side this time last week?

I admit – the office assignment list I intended to tackle was a bit advantageous. While I completed anything who’s deadline was due, I left plenty more on the To-Do list for next week.  So much for getting a head start on September.

I had grand ideas of going through the children’s closets organizing potential school outfits, but I never moved beyond having them meet me at their closet doors.

I thought I would pull together grocery shopping list for some online food shopping in hopes to alleviate some tasks in the coming weeks.  However, I got only as far as typing in the web address for Peapod.

So on this Finally Friday, despite feeling like I did not accomplish everything I intended to accomplish, I breathe a deep sigh of relief that my family and I made it through another summer – a summer of patched schedules, camp, play dates and everything in between.  And you know what, I kinda feel better now that I wrote this!

Now to enjoy the unofficial end to summer…….it must be 5 o’ Clock somewhere 🙂

Finally Friday is all about breathing a sigh of relief that the week is over with a photo and its “short” quote.  Yes – similar to Wordless Wednesday, but created for those who have no capacity to be wordless such as myself.   I’m Italian and I am just getting over trying to say things in 140 characters or less on Twitter.

This Friday, another season of summer camp comes to a close.  It’s hard to believe that nine weeks flew by…..

…9 weeks of rosy red cheeks

…9 weeks of sweaty heads, hair askew

…9 weeks of very tired children fighting to stay away at nightfall

And then there are those milestones….

…passing the deep water swim test

….spending the ENTIRE day outside

…mommy NOT following the buses on Field Trip Days – even the one to Peddlers Village!

There are just two weeks left until the school bell rings and the children return to their classroom.

Wait, two weeks?  WHAT?

Today I share with you a little piece of a room that has revitalized ME.  Back when my first child was born, I began “working from home”.  I sat at a table with a computer and my sweet baby in my lap.  I was so thrilled to spend the day with her AND still have the ability to get work done.  Soon, Little Man followed and I increased the amount of days I worked from home.  My daughter in preschool, my son took her place on my lap.

Almost eight years after I began working several days from home, I became an expert at adapting the most random spaces as suitable “home office space”.  Kids play room, backyard patio, kitchen table.  My friends – even the bathroom was command central when peace and quiet were needed. But that has all changed.

With a sprinkle of Hollywood and dash of pure luck, I am now sitting in an ENTIRE room that was created just for my work and my passion.  I am not permitted to show you the space right now, but I can show you this one piece that resulted in the inspiration for this space I love so much.  Some time in July, I will feature this room on its’ very own Pinterest board, but for now, this photo will have to do.

Happy Finally Friday!

Finally Friday – Several Hours Late

It’s Saturday morning as I write this piece, but the sentiment remains the same.  My apologies for the late post, but let’s get on with Finally Friday…..

Today, I share with you a picture from my backyard oasis.  Every spring, we head over to the nursery and pick flowers for our yard and each year, we choose a color and theme.  This year, I was drawn to the rich and deep purples.  Regal, strong and crisp, they were so hard to resist.

Ironically this color has taken over my life and in the weeks to come, I will share how.  For now, this Finally Friday – Several Hours Late is all about these blooming petunias.

Now it’s your turn.  Share a photo with a thought either on this platform or on my Facebook page.  Together we can say Finally Friday!
