What happens when you bring together a Chef, women, fresh local ingredients and Miele appliances? Absolute fun with a dash of deliciousness!
Recently, I had the privilege of joining the very talented Chef Mary Beth Madill and the delightful Mrs. G for what was the first of a series of Mrs. G’s Cooking Classes. Chef Mary Beth and Mrs. G have teamed up to bring friends and cooking together in a way unlike any in the area. Using the Miele appliances in the Mrs G’s showroom in the Lawrenceville store, not only can you watch Chef Mary Beth work her magic, but her hands-on method of cooking lure even the most timid cook to the table. The menu was brimming with fresh local produce and the recipes were unique and mouth-watering.
We began the evening with a Peach & Thyme lemonade which embodied summer freshness in every way. While Chef Mary Beth worked on the main courses, we dined on Shrimp with Meyer Lemon Dip and a Blueberry Watermelon Salsa. Oh and lest I forget, let me explain the “we”. Joining me at this cooking class were some of my favorite local ladies that make juggling motherhood and careers easy as pie (pun totally intended)!
Also on the menu were Asparagus prepared with Siriacha and Pecan Vinaigrette, Cauliflower Steaks with Chimichurri Sauce and Grilled Steak Skewers with a Cherry BBQ Sauce. Closing the culinary masterpiece was a Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp. Needless to say, I lost track of time while dining and chatting with the very fabulous ladies.
Next in the series of cooking classes, is the Summer Fun Cooking Class. On the menu will be some summer favorites like strawberry shortcake, fruit salsa and pizza on the grill. Students will learn about using fresh and local ingredients while they enjoy some delicious treats!
And yes, my daughter and I will absolutely be attending the class!
