Ready and Waiting

Last year – before the winter began – I bought four sleds, two snow suits, two pairs of boots and two snowmen kits.  That very same Christmas, the kids received two more sleds and two more snowmen kits.  Oh…. and Little Man made the most perfectly inaccurate snow ruler.  We were so prepared and the snow never came.

Fast forward to this year: a very insulting snow storm on the heels of a devastating hurricane gave us the chance to wear some of the brand-spanking-new-getting-too-tight gear and a smaller storm over the holiday season allowed us to use one of the four snowmen kits.  Since then, we have had several clippings of snow that melts before it even needs to be shoveled.

This weekend, the New England area is expected to get pummeled with a blizzard.  While that is far more snow than I care for, my area is expected (as of today) to get several inches.  I am not certain we will be able to take the sleds to our favorite hill, but I have my milk, eggs and bread stocked in my fridge and almost outgrown boots and snow suits ready for the kids to wear.

This of course means, the storm will pass us with but a flake or two.
